   Conventional?   Brick/rock?   Siding?   "B"-Vent for gas fireplace?

   I dont know, I was trying to find him info. a book may be. We are going to have a rock fireplace and our house will have sidding on it.

   Listen, little Lou Lou -

   Around here, a chimney is not framed, it is build of brick or other CMUs. In other places, a metal chimney is used for a zero-clearance factory unit. Sometimes a chase is framed around that to make the wood surrond look like a chimney.

   so what we would need to know is whatehr you mena you are building a conventional masonry fireplace and chimney and want to know how to frame the opennings around it, or if you are using a factory built zero-clearance with metal chimeny and want to know how to frame the chase in.

   We would also need to know whether this is on the interior or an exterior wall of the house, and whether you have any plans or are juast winging it. Telling us how many stories your house will have mioght also be helpful.

   In short, we need to know where you are on the map and where you want to go before we can pick a road out for you

   As mentioned, it'll be nice to know what kind.
   Generally, if brick, all wood framing needs at least 2" clearance of brick.
   Something like that anyway.
   I didn't do it....the buck does NOT stop here.
