Installing a deck to my house and want to do a check on the flashing first. <!—-><!—-><!—->
My sill plate is 3 plates thick. Then I have 1″ foam board flush with the sill. There is another 1″ foam board on top of that. There of furring strips running horizontal for the vertical siding to be stapled to. <!—-><!—->
For a ledger, I am going to do the 2 ledge system as seen in FHB. I was thinking installing the step flashing over the first ledger and then covering with double-sided flashing tape stuff. The step flashing only goes up about 1 inch.<!—-><!—->
I Google’d deck flashing and a couple site recommended flashing between the house and the ledger board, won’t this trap water back there?<!—-><!—->

Looks like a lot of work. Make it freestanding and skip that stuff. Probably save a few pennies as well.
I have just had to replace the sill plate on my house due to poor deck install. If you can go with free standing do so.
If you must bolt to the house make sure all water is directed away from the house.
