Andy,
Are you thinking adobe? If so, the people at Adobe Builder Magazine may be able to point you in the right direction [http://www.adobebuilder.com]. They have an e-mail address [[email protected]].
I lived in New Mexico for seven years. Most of the adobe houses I saw looked like they were built without plans. In some cases, it was obvious that a great deal of planning went into making the houses look like traditional casas that had grown over the years. Others were very sophisticated designs. With these types of houses (traditional adobe) the details are very important. If you are not familiar with the style you should consider hiring an architect or designer that is.

Andy: Home Planners puts out a number of floorplan books in various styles. One of their plan books is called "Southwest Home Plans" and has Pueblo and Territorial style plans. It can be ordered from Home Planners at 1-800-322-6797 (No, I don't work for them!) Barnes and Noble bookstores carries these books; or check out Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble on-line for plan books. I have found some great Pueblo-style plans in Builder magazine. Check out their house plans on-line at http://www.builderonline.com. Bonnie B.
