Feedback needed!
I am going to start building my first home in the spring of 2004. I’m building the house in Canada on the Bay of Fundy ocean front.
I have been very intrigued by the concept of the ICF (Insultated Concrete Forms), however I don’t have the feedback on them, as I do with the traditional 2×6 frame.
I’m also not sure if the ocean has any bearing on the choice I should be making.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks, Ted

There have been dozens of threads about ICFs here.
Use the advanced search function and you should come up with enough opinions and experiences to choke a mule.

You really havent asked, or should I say explained why you may choose one from the other.....concrete vs wood.
You know what concrete is...and you know what wood is.....so to answer a question with a question......why would you want to use concrete vs wood?
I think you may answer your own question.
edit: if you get brochures from different ICF manufacturers they'll tell you way its better (naturally) in thrie opinions.

Thanks, I will give the advanced search a try.
What part of the Bay are you building on?
Are you thinking of all icf walls, or just the foundation? I believe that there are a few icf houses in the area; I'll ask around to see what I can find out.
I'm building below Saint John. Are you from the area? I'm going to have 1-1/2 story home, with a basement. I was goingto use the ICF's for the basement and the first floor. I would then use wood for the upstairs, where the kicker walls will also be wood.
Thanks
Better go with wood, teddy. Those lunar influences that make your tides so radical will through off your concrete pour.
