I’m looking for any info on the new crown molding products that are installed using d.w. mud instead of being nailed. I believe the stock is made of light weight foam and is very easy to install.
Any info or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance…

Sounds too high end for me.
Google "Trim Tex" and you'll find it.

If he hada said 'installs with DW mud and a staple gun" we all woulda knew what he was talkin' about :-)
I gotta wonder what the outside corners (miters) are gonna look like though...
Seriously though, my DW guy uses that "magic corner" product pictured on the http://www.trim-tex.com/ web page - or something very similar - and it seems to work great. Matt
Try this link. This stuff sounds like what you're describing.

Thanks for the info...I've seen Mike Holmes use it on a couple jobs and it looks interesting. Seems very light and easy enough for one person to install long pieces.
I just received Gary Katz's latest videos and I hope he doesn't see my post as I'm sure the idea of installing crown with mud and staples would raise an eyebrow or two.
If anyone has used these products with success, some of us might like to hear about it.

It's not really newI saw the foam products demonstrated nearly eight years ago. It is a modern material but an old method. They used to make fancy cornice and crown moldings of plaster, in sections in a mold, and use the plaster to tuick it in. Sometimes, custom details and designs were cast right on the job. This just takes a centuries old method and replaces it with modern materials.

I remember having a converastion about crown with Mark Cadoli from Australia.
They don't use wood crown ... I think they use a gypsum product ...
paper wrapped just like drywall ... just shaped with coves and ogee's ..
foam crown doesn't sound low end to me.
wood replaced plaster ... what's wrong with faom replacing wood.
was wood the "low end" when it first came out?
