installing IC2 cans

Where can I find out what is the proper way to install an IC2 can in the ceiling so that it is anchored properly? Which edge goes to the joist ets?

    Did it come with installation istructions? Most do.

    New construction cans: Nail or screw the joinst hanger tabs into the joist. Doesn't matter which direction -- whichever makes it easier to wire.

    Old construction cans: However they'll fit. The ceiling material ends up supporting most or all of the weight (which ain't much).
