Had a pole barn building crew erecting a large arbor structure in front of our kitchen using locust posts and white oak headers and rafters.
While discussing air guns, they mentioned their Paslode Impulse would not drive the nail all the way in on these hardwood species.
Sure enough, the 3″ ring shanked stainless steel nails stopped dead after about half way in.
Their compressor driven Senco guns – no problem.
I had never thought about this before while considering getting an Impulse for the convenience during occasional medium sized projects around the house.
They also told me the Paslode Impulse is a great gun to have as part of the arsenal but only for framing lumber or any wood species that Home Depot or Lowes sells.
Just something I never thought to consider before as a typical DIY homeowner…
