I recently inheritted a beatiful, hand made, screen door.
It is just a typical wood frame but, it has been inset with about fifteen delicately carved branches (as in tree branches but, man made)
Unfortunately the door is warped corner to corner.
Any ideas on how to staighten it would be appreciated bearing in mind that pulling it to bits first would be a bit of a travesty.
Thanks
Ben

Wet it and lay it in the sun....cup up I believe. Keep an eye on it so it doesnt over correct itself. Maybe cup down..cant remember. I remember that from a FH TRicks of the trade book I had. later
*Ben,You don't mention if it's painted. If the wood is well sealed then wetting it won't help much. If the twist isn't too bad lay the door down (crown up) on a fairly flat patch of lawn early in the morning when the grass is still wet with dew. Block up the two 'high' corners and lay a wide board diagonally on top of the door low corner to low corner. Apply a few strategically placed bricks on the board... and cross your fingers. A foggy wet morning and sunny afternoon should do it if it wasn't warped for too long.
*Ben,Hang it in the jamb.Block it so it is twisted in the opposite direction of the warp. Let it sit over night.Sometimes the majic works, and sometimes it doesn't.Good luck.Ed. Williams
*I used to run into this when I was making shutters and doors. I would lay it flat on a table. Two corners on one diagonal will be touching the table, the two on the other will be up in the air. Put a block under each of the corners that are touching the table to increase leverage, and clamp the other two corners down, way past flat, and leave it for a day, or preferavly longer. Like Ed says, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's a brutal process, and you sort of have to push the door almost to the breaking point. If it's made of 1" or so material, at least you have a chance. Good luck
