View from jobsite today. Usually the channel islands are obscured by cloud cover, but today the tops were clear and beautiful.

It's OK to make it bigger. 37KB is really small for a scenic view shot.

...too bad its not MY jobsite! (picture taken in Cambria Pines, SLO county)
I used to free dive off Anacapa island. Island Packers out of Ventura Harbor used to run a boat out there, and for like $35 I could ride out and dive and hike the island. A crazy buddy of mine took a motorized rubber raft out there once!
For 4 yrs. I delivered mail out of the Milpas St. post office to the Montecito area. Man that is some beautiful country.
BTW, if you want a historical look at unspoiled Santa Barbara, read Two Years Before the Mast by Richard Henry Dana - California before it belonged to the US, he describes Los Angeles and Santa Barbara in detail.

Thanks for the book info, I'll try to find it.
that boat still runs / same company same harbor
do the islands lend themselves to overnight camping, backpacking?
potable water available?
I have spent an overnighter there. IIRC the water had to be packed in, and the island (Anacapa) is small, so there's not a lot of hiking available. But the snorkeling was great. Island Packers should have all the info.
Also, if you enjoy that kind of thing, there are boats out to Catalina from San Pedro, and I found some great hiking/camping/snorkeling there also.
