Kitchen cabinet crown mould should the back of the crown be flush with doors or cab frame?
Should the wall side of crown moulding on a kitchen wall cabinet be flush with cabinet frame or face of doors? Full overlay cabinet, seems that the moulding is hidden if back is to the cab frame.

I have done it both ways, if the crown is the small 2" style I usually show a mock up to the customer with 1x3 an 1/8" space above the door and the crown mounted to the 1x3. If the crown is larger than I just mount it to the cabinet. But it all depends on the door style, cabinet style, crown, and customer.
If your cabs were planned by a local cab company, I would think they included some finished flat stock to place that crown out beyond the cab face to at least the front of the door,. I have always pulled the crown out to start at the door face. Otherwise it looks wrong to me. (Butt ugly)
Crown needs to appear as a fancy pediment. Especially with a full overlay door.
It’s a matter of personal preference. I think it looks a lot better when flush with the doors. It’s sometimes a hard sell with the client unfortunately b/c they don’t want to spend the extra $80 +/- that the cabinet companies charge per stick. It’s crazy how much they upcharge the trim pieces. When on a budget crown is most often flush with the face frame.
I usually order 1x6 cabinet flat stock. I call it risers .Then the crown
There isn't a right or wrong answer to this. What do you like? Do that.
