Landscape lighting

FastEddie | Posted in Construction Techniques on October 1, 2006 04:36am

The house we bought has a bunch of those low-voltage lights around the sidewlk and drive.  Plastic pipe with a pagoda head.  They looked nice when we bought the place and DW really likes them.  Turns out almost al had been damaged by the kids and/or lawnmowers, and were basically held together with dust tape until the house sold.

I don’t really want to buy more fixtures, but DW thinks the make the place.  So I’m thinking about building something.  Anyone have a pictures of similar lights?  I’m thinking about 4-6″ square and 10-12′ high.

That would be sturdy enough, but what about the head?  I could put a T fitting on the bottom for a way to route the wires.

can you use a PVC adapter for the head ?
leave a bit of the old stem intact and then glue them up?....meebe a PVC "C"" for the bottom as well, instead of the tee?.

Use Mighty Posts for the base.  They have a 1/2" threaded opening for your fixtures to screw into.  Gives a nice connection "box" that is UL approved - even for 120.

I've picked up some real nice outdoor fixtures from the owner of Laguna Lightcraft out of San Juan Capistrano.  He has a local kid after school fashion these up out of (commonly copper) sheet metal in his shop over his garage.  Very simple construction, albeit due to the design.   Someone with even mild metal bending skills could almost make these up hisself.  And I gotta say, these are of a higher quality than the crap seen in the stores nowadays.

Heck, no.  The guy has his shop over his garage.  Sometimes you'll see his ads in some fancy landscape design mag.  But if you want them, you'll have to drive to his house.  It's one block east off of the main drag headed south in San Juan.  It's the house with the weird copper things dangling out of the trees and hanging around in his front yard.

            He makes very nice stuff.

Maybe Sungod can run down there for you.

Who else is in the area?  S. Orange county, CA.
