Hello FredB,
After a long weekend of testing, we actually found that one of the causes of the speed problem was the message counter on the folders.
It seems as if the server has to work overtime to calculate that there are 11,000 messages in the Tavern and that of those 11,000 fifteen of them are new. When we turned that feature off, the speed picked up immediately.
I know we’re trading one evil for another here, but hopefully now that the site is more responsive, you won’t time out any more and clearing the unread messages will be easier to do.

I notice the last post date is gone. I miss that as it is often the only way I know what is Really new. I know we are supposed to be able to mark as read. But many times it takes so long for that my link times out.

OK. Thanks for the info. If the "marked as read" feature works well the date isn't needed. So, I'll give it a try and see how it does.
