Hi,
I had new gutters installed at the same time as I had a new roof put on (see attached photos). I noticed last week during a rain storm that there was water dripping from between the back of the gutter and the fascia board. Water was not backing up in the gutter and making it’s way under the drip edge ; the gutter is one piece. The only thing I can think of is that the water is somehow being pulled in through the edge vent and somehow leaking that way. Does that sound plausible? Anyone know of problems with these vents? I had my wife spray water on the roof while I was on a ladder trying to see where it was coming from but I couldn’t see anything. I’m contacting the roofer but want to be armed with some information.

Often a strip of al. can be inserted behnd the drip edge and lap over the gap at thetop of the gutter, snip around the hangers.
This directs the water into the gutter, instead of behind it.

Looks to me like there is no drip edge, at least not like the ones used in this area. Also, the shingles usually extend past the sheathing or drip edge at least 1/2" even more in most cases here. I think the water is just running down the front of the sheathing and behind the gutters, instead of dripping off the shingles into the gutter.Bill Koustenis

To clarify, what looks like sheathing under the shingles in the photo is actually a vent.

There is a DE (I think, I'll relook) and the vent above. On a low pitch roof the water can curl back and run down the face of the DE and behind the gutter.
Yes, the shingles ought to be proud of the DE edge some more.
My 2 1/2 in 12 eave does the same, and I sloped the gutter hard to the oneside for rainwater collection so the low side is quite aways down from the DE, I get some water behind the gutter there.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Yep, the DE is 1/4" or more above the gutter back ( see the top of the hanger?) thats the drool right there, fixed many.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

ah, I didn't notice that. Is the repair to run a piece of flashing up under the drip edge and over the gutter back?
George
Yeah, it looks like about an 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 will suffice, pop rivet it to the dripe edge, or if you have a pr of tongs with the jaws at 45* you may be able to kick out the DE as Mike said.
Fishing in the strip ain't all that easy, and it'll be sharp, notch around the hangers at the back. Work with short ( under 8') lengths.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Either that, or figure out why the gutter isn't pushed up under the drip edge and unscrew the hangers and move it up if possible. I'm guessing this is a problem near the downspouts so the gutter may need to be hung that low to drain. Worth looking into, though. http://grantlogan.net/
But you all knew that. I detailed it extensively in my blog.
Actually, it is a problem all along the gutters so it looks like the flashing is the way to go. The roofer was supposed to come by yesterday to look at it (I'm not there) and I'm wiating to hear what they say.

Looks like your drip edge flashing is not installed properly. It should be on top of the roof sheathing, under the underlayment and shingles.
the drip edge is not allowing the water to "drip"

bend the drip edge up so the water has to "drip"
right now the capillary action is forcing the water to "drool" ( ala sphere) once it is behind the gutter it runs down behind and down the fascia
if the bend isn't sufficient, you can do the aluminum strip trick described previously
