I need to install 16′ x 16″ Armstrong MODe vinyl tiles over an existing subfloor ( I already removed the old tiles). The subfloor is in good shape in most spots, but in a few areas the fir plywood splintered when the tiles were removed. I intended to skim coat w/ S-194 and a latex additive, but was wondering if a bonding coat of the liquid latex would improve adhesion or possibly a primer of some sort would ensure the compounds bond. I had a problem about 10 years back in a small area where the leveler did not adhere to the tile floor I went over and the repair was a nightmare. Any feedback or help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks rez,
But I think it's become a moot point. I've been agonizing over this for most of this week and I came up against the wall of time. After not hearing from anyone I needed to make a decision so I called my owner and told her I'm going to patch the floor but then put a new layer of plywood over the top. It will be a better installation in the long run, I just lose the time in trying to make the existing work and have to now deal with some of the issues in transitions to other rooms and cutting down the oak entrance door.
I do appreciate the favor though, maybe I can return one in the future.
Thanks!
