I have a problem with a square stone that was i,properly laid on a bathroom floor and the edges are irregular. In other words, if you slide your foot across the floor, you will hit the high spots on the tile edges.
The tile/ stone cannot be taken up as it breaks and there isn’t any more available.
I have heard that there is a device out there that can be used to level the tiles / stone. Any ideas what it is or how I would go about having it done?

This would depend on the type of finish the tile has on it. You can take a grinder and grind the edges down flush with the surrounding pieces, but if it's glazed, you'll ruin it. If it's stone with no glaze, it shouldn't be a problem.

It is not glazed tile, but rather stone. What type of gringer are you speaking about??
Thanks

*Terry,Depending on the kind of stone tile you are dealing with you mayn be able to sand the edges with a heavy grit paper on a belt or orbital. As long as it isn't glazed you should be able to deal with the problem. You could also use a hand grinder with a masonry disc or diamond blade.Good luckBuntz

if it is stone then I would recommend a good bit of sanding with a random orbital sander and some super fine wet dry paper and water so as to get rid of all the gouges left from grinding it down.
Then again if this is a matter of this thing bugging you more than it is affecting usage of the floor, just leave it. If you leave it alone, your cahnce of screwwing it up is GREATLY reduced. Take this advice from someone who has screwwed up plenty of things I should have just left alone.

*But all those things looked so simple, didn't they? Just an hour or two, nothing to it.Two days later it is done...maybe.Rich Beckman
*Please Rich, don't even get me started.I might have to tell you about the shower stall I only had to replace 8 tiles in....46 tiles later

Thanks Guys for the humour and help. Think I will look at it a bit more before deciding what to do.

see your local monumental mason. They have grinders with diamond wheels for this very problem. Hopefully though your tiles are firmly fixed or you could have more problems

Mark,
An excellent suggestion.
