Took a couple of pix off-site week before last when reviewing a grounding setup.
Can’t give much details except the links, but was more hundreds of feet runs of 1111MCM cable than I’ve seen outside of a power plant. Kinda tiring working in it, as the Russian builders of the basic platform sure didn’t pay any attention to acoustic levels of the ventilation system. Ear protection absolutely mandatory in the multi-megawatt diesel rooms.
The bigger platform in the attachment pix is the ‘Atlantis’, arrived from Korea while I was there – was on a deck 100 ft above water and could still look UNDER the Atlantis. The ‘offsite2’ pix is an oil refinery that will be hoisted atop Atlantis.
One of the reasons not to retire, going and checking out this kinda stuff from the inside.

A person with no sense of humor about themselves, has no sense at all.
Yep, anybody with a problem with heights or closed spaces would be in trouble - interesting to see a structure with heights and closed space psychology environments in one place, but this was it - when you don't see the sea 100 ft below, you are in a steel cube.
Asked to work 6 PM to 6 AM last week and this during final checkouts and eng. sign offs prior to sea trials next week - declined that offer despite big OT pay, used the rotator cuff surgery vs. the 120 ft ladders as an excuse.
Your post extends off my viewing area so I have to scroll back and forth to read it. I've noticed this with other posts from time to time and I just wonder whats happening.
