Dave,
We just put in 2,000 feet of horizontal. Four 500 foot loops of 1" tubing. We dug three trenches with a backhoe. Each one 6' deep and 2' wide. the tubing ws placed along the outside of the trenches. One trench was backfilled about 2' and a second loop was placed. It all comes together at manafolds adjacent to the house. 2" lines from the manifolds run under the footing and slab floor to the "unit." We put two 3" PVC DWV conduits under the footing before it was placed. Other than a lot of digging, it was simple to do. Take a look at the Hydro-Temp Corp web site [http://www.hydro-temp.com]. Purcased my system from them. Lots of good info there.
