has Lowes changes the brands of caulk they carry in the last 6 months or so ?- i went to one in NY state last month and every tube had silicone in it. I figured maybe it was a new york state thing.
back home in south carolina last week same inventory in the lowes- they do not seem to stock the “regular – non silicone caulk)
all guaranteed for 35 to 50 years – yeah right
has the mfg changed the product line (allex??) or is Lowes buying different stuff????

It does seem like a lot of caulking has silicon in it nowadays, but the ones that do have silicon in it aren't a true silicon product if I have that correct...if that makes any sense.
I find with the higher-end tubes of caulk (the ones with silicon in it, but not a true silicon caulk material) at $3 or $4 a tube instead of the $1.97 or so ones make caulking so much better. Forget if it has a 30-year or whatever life, the little extra with the silicon just spreads out easier, easier to work once applied, and doesn't seem as porous as the cheaper caulks where dust and other grime can get in the caulk if painting is put off for a while.
Would the difference be, siliconized, silicone and silly-cone???
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming.... WOW!!! What a Ride!
Exactly
The Silicone caulks are "100%" silicone and in general non-paintable, but I think that there are a few that are paintable.
The others are siliconized latex or aryllic with silicone or similar.
I looked at the online list and our local Lowes still has a number of both "plain" latex and some other types.
They have mostly GE and Polyseam. GE has taken over the MD line of caulks and one series that Lowes has is Co-poloymer caulk. It is paintable and comes in both clear and colored. I have only used a little bit of it, but it seems to stick to anything and EVERYTHING and is paintable.
