Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance

Just looking through the annual “Houses” issue and wondered who was going to paint/maintain the three stories of latticework shown on the house titled “Built to Blend In”. Can you imagine trying to sand and paint that latticework in situ? Yeah, it’s pretty, but lets show some common sense in design. Looks great to an architect who can just take the money and walk away. Save this sort of folderol for “Architectural Digest”

Maybe it's vinyl?
Inset drawing looks like wood to me, but vinyl would still fade after a time and need some sort of maintenance.
Reminds me of a client who had a new Dbl. front door installed, custom made. Each door had 100's of small wooden blocks glued to what seemed a flat panel door. Varnished, all I could think of was the NIGHTMARE of refinishing it.
