As part of a recent renovation, my house now has two heating plants. An oil fired forced hot air system in the basment which serves the first floor, and a heat pump in the attic for the second floor. Because the heat from downstairs rises, the second floor system hardly ever runs. The thermostat for the second floor system is in the hall directly in the path of the heat rising from the first floor. I thought of moving it to the master bedroom, but then the other bedrooms might not get heated consitently. Any thoughts on this?

I suspect just the opposite will occur in the summer…..
