Mason’s worst nightmare- A home owner with a level.
Ten bones Say’s that chimney has been leaning from the get go.
I would like some options to stabilize a leaning chimney… It has maybe gotten out of plumb 1/2 ” in 3 years… so it is slow, but definitely occuring… thanks

Check soil conditions at base. Footer may have been inadequate from the get go, you may need peering.
Maybe you got an expanding family of moles. As they open a room around the FP base it shifts a little.

Sorry my bad.
That's not a link to a thread....
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either. Just leave me the heck alone.
I'm not sure why I can't link it.
Cut and paste doesn't seem to work.

If you find the thread, find the post number in the upper right hand corner. Right-click on that, and pick "Copy link location".Then you can paste that into a post.
I wonder how much deeper would the ocean be without sponges.
Thanks
http://forums.taunton.com/tp-breaktime/messages?msg=104849.1 We now return to the regularly scheduled program.
a belly-band metal strp around the chimney thru-bolt or lagged at the wall plate line will sometimes stop further lean
Ya got to give it to him though, he is at least exploring all the possabilities. I have been thinking about canvessing my neighborhood and offering nothing but masonry repair and rebuilds, cause from what I am seeing 90% of the chimneys around here can diffently use some work,as most of the houses here are coming up on the century mark.
I spent a summer with a guy in Seattle and all we did was
rebuilds from the roof line up.
Endless work. Once you started in a neighborhood you couldn't leave.
But back to the poor guy's problem.

If it's only a couple of years old, how could it warp out like that?
I saying it was always crooked and he just looked up.
Why would you start a thread about a thread? Am I missing something here? Are you a bureaucrat?
BTW - my bet is on the footer.
redundantly redundant redundancy....
reduntantly done.....

WOW!!! What a Ride!Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
I thought it would be a joke so I put it in the Tavern.
Somebody bumped it out.
Figured if any good advice turned up we could link it back to the guy.
Funny they bumped your thread out of the tavern but kept his thread in "forum suggestions".,,, go figure.

It's cause I made to big of a mess with it for the Tav.
