Hi there.. I recently purchased a Swiss Army Muli-tool. Now that I have one and wear it 24 hours a day I can’t see how I could do with out it. On the job it saves time. No searching for snips to cut lumber straps, the pliers will change the blade on a skill saw it even saved me from having to climb down off a high roof for the hand saw after dropping it cutting 2X3 stapping. Just pulled out my little tool and used the saw blade and off it went. I wouldnt recommend using it for cutting wood but Im just saying it works in a pinch.
I would have to say that in the next future every person that works for me will be getting one for their Christmas bonus.
Word of advise. The cheap ones are just that.. CHEAP! I spent $118.99 for this one & its worth every penny. I had a cheap one & it broke trying to chande the brakes on my daughters bike.
I would suggest the Swiss Army one or the Leatherman or even the Gerber. BUT get one!!
I wish they had a 5/32 Hex key in them though.. That seems to be the only thing mines missing.. Even has a wood chisel. Man, I just love it.
Like to get opinions on different models.

I'm a big fan of these tools. My first one was an original Leatherman, received as a gift. I still keep it on my tool belt.
I had one I really liked until it was stolen. I still miss it, it was the Paratool by SOG Knives http://www.sogknives.com/
I switched to using the Gerber after the theft partly because it had the interchangeable screwdriver. But it didn't feel quite right, not quite sure why.
My current favorite, although a little big, is by Sears/Craftsman. It's got a full size slip joint pliers, plus more tools than I have in my whole shop, goes for $60?. It has the usual knife bottle opener, flathead, etc. But it too has a chisel, as well as a four way screwdriver, great locking system, scraper, other toys. They also have a miniature multitool, pliers, tweezers, bottle opener, for about $30. I have one of those on my keychain (it's designed to fit there, about 1 in. x 2 in.) and it's actually useful, not just a toy.
As for those cheapies, I had one as a freebie. Says very clearly 'Stainless Steel' on it. Or, it did - Chinese stainless is now rusted so you can't read it.
