I just completed a search of the Fine Home Building archives and the rest of the net and was surprised that I could find no recent reviews of mini grinders. Would anyone like to shoare their opinions with me?
I will beusing it for a number of functions:
Cut off wheel for metal
Abrasive disk for masonry (tuck & point, tile nibling, etc.)
And back coping wood trim.
Thanks a lot.

Thanks, Calvin that helped a lot.
Spike, I have an older bosch. Works well cutting metal, diamond for stone or toothing or many another abuse. There's a 4-5 tooth cannibal blade, yikes, scary thing. Grinder for sharpening, taking off metal. A great tool. Metabo is used by many daily users of cut off tools. I would go either with confidence. There was a grinder mentioned in Tools I got today, or something like that. Paddle switch. Handy, but might take getting used to. These tools have not much inherent safety. clamp the work and hang on with two hands if you can help it. Have never used mine coping, should give it a try.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

I use a 4" Makita, which feels good in my hands and has served many different needs, although not that often. I even like the sound of it running.
This is what I have used for about 5 or 6 years:
Bosch
It is a 5" Bosch with an 8.5 amp motor. It has been nothing short of fantastic. Very heavy use with only occasional brush replacement. Very powerful. I would never consider using anything smaller than a 5". We use it for a lot of tuck pointing/ reglet grinding. It's only downside is its trigger switch which is a minor gripe.
A tilesetter friend has one of these:
Milwaukee
His feelings about his are the same as mine concerning the Bosch. If you are really into power you could try the 12 amp Milwaukee in a 5". I think they call it the Super Magnum.

Thanks for that tip. I found the thread and it was really helpful.
We have a couple Hatachi's and a look alike Hatachi. Man what a difference between the real thing and the copy! We really like the Hatachi's. DanT
