I have a situation where the vent edge on part of a roof I was asked to fix does not sit at the right angle. It allows water to roll around the edge and down the fascia boards, etc. The result is a wet beam which has attracted carpenter ants. I was considering prying up the edge of the shingles and slipping a regular drip edge between the shingles and the vent edge. Is this a good idea?
