I have seen a company in NY out on Long Island using a new, lighter, and insulating wallboard for use in basements over cinderblock or concrete walls….anybody know what this product is?

Don't know if this is what you mean but.........
Owens Corning is coming out or has out, a product that installs in a track system I believe. Does what you suggest regarding the basement application with the insulation. Check out their website. Wish I could help you more, but I just sorta industrial espionage kinda came upon it and didn't take the time to investigate.
