I want to find this exact bracket. I have used them several times to reinforce existing newels that are wobbly but do not have access below. They work great, but I can’t find them anywhere.
They wrap around each of the four corners, and a set of four gets you 16 to 24 screws into the floor and 16 screws into the newel post. A sturdy retrofit/fix. Then I trim with base over the brackets to match existing base or newel.
Anyone know of a source? I have seen other “L” brackets, but none work as well IMO.

Got a pick of the ones you use????????
The 4JS post mounting system ones....
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
If you plan on covering it anyway, why not pocket holes? Two on each side would be plenty strong.
The brackets increase the effective footprint of the newel and the "around the corner" hardware adds a ridgidness independent screws or simple "L" brackets can't match...I am looking for a very sturdy fix for a customer with "wild children" who will be tugging on it.
ever tried sure tites
9" lag bolt- 5" goes into floor framing- 4"machine threads for a hole drilled into bottom of newel-tighten with nut through access hole--use a dab of polyurethane construction adhesive on bottom of newel-strong like borsch
if I can't go through floor-I use suretites.
silver
Unless I need a boat load of them I usually weld up my own, I make them from 1/8 angle or slightly thinner. Weld two corners and leave one side open. Flanges as wide as I can make them and still be able to hide with the trim. I'm pretty much set up to do it so it takes me less time to fabricate a set than it takes to hunt down and buy one. Plus I can have it now instead of a week later.
"I usually weld up my own"Hey!! That's not fair.I've been following your threads, thinking, "Wow, nice shop! Woodworking, metalworking...you got it goin' on." I'm just starting to set up my shop.BTW I posted a pic of my critter in your "Photo Album" thread yesterday.
you got it goin' on." I'm just starting to set up my shop.My guess is I have quite a head start on you, your probably just a pup and I'm gaining on father time. Basically I started welding my own out of necessity. Half the time I couldn't find anything to fit or worse I would buy something only to have to modify it anyway. Yup I noticed the pup, I'm looking through the kids photos to find something to compliment your super dog.
hey have you ever tried the square plate (maybe 1/8" steel)that you screw into the bottom of the newel w/ 5 screws. it is maybe 3/8" bigger on all sides of the newel w/ 8 screws that now hold it to the floor. trim out as you said and i found them very strong. i have 2 wild boys myself!! i have also made my own from heavy gauge (1/8" plus) aluminum.
Ask This Old House used these.

Looks like you can only get then with the trim.
