I see a few have asked about this product in the past but doesn’t look like anyone had experience with it. I’m looking for a lower maintenance siding product for my house. I’m in central NY and have painted cedar clapboards and the constant scraping/priming/painting is just too much. The house is about 100 years old and has pretty extensive trimwork (frieze board, water table, head casing with sort of a bed molding, crown molding beneath the drip edge). I really want to preserve the historic character.
I’m leaning towards either fiber cement or Nucedar. I looked at a local house with Nucedar and it looked pretty good. I am concerned though about the need to provide for thermal expansion/contraction. The house has a bumpout and at the intersections with the main house, the cedar clapboards are mitered (no cornerboards). Not sure you could replicate that with something that moves like PVC. Also, there are several returns where the trimwork butts into the siding. Seems like those details would be difficult to replicate with Nucedar.
I’d appreciate hearing back from anyone with experience with this product. Thanks in advance. (Also, I’m likely to hire this work out due to the size of the project and have been getting input from prospective contractors but no one I’ve talked to has installed Nucedar.)

I have not used it, and until your post, never heard of it.
Who distributes it around here?
Just went to the web site, cellular PVC. That is going to be an expensive product.
Not sure of the supplier. The example house was in Cazenovia. I talked with the area rep and he mentioned a material cost of about $5/ft2. So it's definitely not cheap.
I've never used it either but their web site looks interesting, lots of trim and millwork. Vince Carbone

Little high
Where in Caz?
I would suspect that any sider that install Hardi type siding could handlr it well.
I will second what Vince said.

If you're on Rte 92 heading to Caz from Manlius, turn right at intersection with Rte 20. Go up the hill and past Meadow Hill Rd. On the right is a long private driveway. That's the house. I don't think it's visible from Rte 20. Cedar Bay did the job. I talked with them about coming over to my house but apparently business is good as I've yet to hear from him.
May have to take a ride, I would like to see it.
