i can’t believe no one else has run into this problem: 3″ lap siding on a 70 yr old house. at the corners, a small metal cap makes the corner at each course, similar to steel siding corners. i have found 6″ corners at the local lumber yard, but once you cut them down and place them on the corner, the bottom is no longer horizontal; the corner appears upturned. the homeowner doesn’t seem to care, and would never pay me to contruct 150+ on a metal break, but i’m almost willing to do it just to make it look right. the house has two different style of corners on it, which suggests that the last remodeler had a similar prolem. anyone run into this, or found a place to buy these types of corners?

You should have a local sheet metal shop price them using 26gg Bonderized metal. Shouldn't run more than a buck each. And the bonderized will take paint better than galvanized.
