Wanted to give everyone an update. I was on the board a week or two ago re: a moisture problem we had in a corner of my son’s bedroom. As a brief update there’s no reasonable fix to the general (and relatively minor, as proven over the eight years we’ve lived here) moisture problem on the foam board. However I did solve the major moisture problem in the corner where there was a slight but noticeable draft.
I prepped the floor and installed a light oak pre-finished hardwood floor in his room. Aside from a Pergo floor I put in a few years ago this is the first ‘real’ wood floor I’ve installed. It looks wonderful. Well, ok, I don’t make my living in the trades so there are some minor things that you experts would see if you looked in the right spots, but fortunately it’s a small room and the best parts will remain exposed while the rest will likely be covered by furniture.
Honestly though I was very surprised how ‘easy’ it was – though backbreaking! And like all serious DIY jobs I used muscles I forgot I had (or don’t have as the case may be); and it’s difficult to type on my computer with band-aids on three fingers! 🙂 My wife and son are very happy, not to mention our daughter who has been rooming w/him for the last few weeks. I hope to post pics in the next week or two.
Question for the group, where can I shop online for an oak floor vent to cover my heating duct? It’s 3″x10″ and I can’t find a hardware store around here (including Home Depot) that carries it – the closest I can find is 4″x10″. Thanks!

I've always made my own out of the same flooring material that I installed.
FHB I believe has several ready made oak/etc. vent advertisers if you need to buy one.
