Thinking of building an outdoor built-in BBQ. The gas line is easy enough to tap into underneath the house. Running it outside is the question. My understanding is I need to run green gas pipe, but how do I find below-grade rated fittings? My local hardware/yard (not HD or Ace, but still for pros) says regular black pipe fittings are fine. This seems like a rust-through waiting to happen.
And what’s UBC/ICC say, 16″ deep?
Any other hints, suggestions, or pitfalls to avoid appreciated.

You get out of life what you put into it......minus taxes.

As I understand, the code books you reference, will be short on the information you ask due to local soil conditions.
In S. California, that black pipe would be gone in a year or so from the soil reaction.
Call your local gas utility, then your local building inspector for what really is required.
I've had to use a heavy yellow plastic pipe with special ends for my past outdoor grills...
Don't fool with this issue, pull the permit like you're supposed to.
