That's a wide open question. Either I missed a previous post, or we need to know more.
I just need to know if there are any special vapor barrier considerations that I should look into, since this is not drywall. It's a standard basement, besides the paneling.
I would only use "plywood" paneling, no masonite or pb based paneling. Glue and spotnail with sheetrock backing. Hold it up off the floor.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

Is there some paneling you just love the look of? And you're committed to it? If you're going to drywall anyway, as suggested here, could you consider finishing the drywall and skipping the paneling? It would sure lighten up the atmosphere in the basement.
What purpose does the sheetrock serve behind the panelling? Just stiffens the wall?
I'm sorry, I assumed 1/4" sheet goods applied to a stud wall. Full thickness board paneling would be rigid. 1/4" wouldn't.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

Where are you located? Is the basement insulated? Do you want it to be? What are you going to use the basement for? What are the basement walls? ICF? Block? poured concrete? Wood?
