Live in Tucson in two story brick house. Am thinking about Pella fiberglass-framed, low e, windows for west wall which was built without upper windows in 1978. This is typical in era of pre-low e glass, due to afternoon heat. Welcome any feedback. Thanks

I am having some Pella windows replaced in my house with Anderson Renewal. I purchased (about 15 years ago now) Pella windows for my house--all awning types. This was before you could buy one version from Home Depot and another from a "professional". They only had the original style, with the removable inner pane.
From a temperature and sealing view, they were and (mostly) are excellent.
One window had the factory built vents clogged with sealant, and the windows continually fogged up until it rotted away. I had a Pella crew out for another problem, showed them the window, and they said something like clean out the vent with a little wire. It didn't work.
Another window in that set has rotted out where water entered the aluminum cladding, and warped the window so that in a modest rain and a little wind it leaks in at the latch.
Pella has been unresponsive, stating that the window is out of warranty. But, for $$$ they will come in and evaluate the problem.
has been my experience also. unresponsive to problems. don't want to stand behind anything not installed by their contractors.
They jusy don't want to stand behind anything after they get paid

We installed three Pella units in our last upgrade and have been very happy with them so far. One had a poorly fitting piece. I emailed my local rep with a picture and had a new piece within a week. I sure haven't had that level of service from any of the big box stores!
try asking for help a year after the install

amen
Well, I just had Andersen Renewal windows installed. Pricey!
The three-man crew was very competent and very clean. And, they not only installed the windows, but they also rebuilt the board & batten very nicely around the windows.
Temperature was about 30, with rain and snow starting. They said they work all year, and that this was typical of the winter conditions.
