In the past I have built ceder decks and funiture such as Adarondac chairs and the gave them a water repelant finish. I really love the inital glow of the finished wood, however after a couple of years the ceder still turns grey. I would like to make some new pieces for my own home and keep a golden color on the wood. In the past I used Thompsons ( which gave the worst results ) And I used Floods C W F : beautiful color but not perminant. I’m ready to try a marine varnish. Any ideas?

I quite like the changes that cedar goes through, including the eventual grey, but I tried Minwax Hellsman Spar Varnish on a pair of cedar screen doors and they still look great two years later. . . another brand Star Point(?) that I used on an elaborate Arbour didn't last one year before starting to peel. High UV blockers are omni important. But don't use it on a deck.
