I want to thank everyone who participated in my recent post concerning hip rafters, especially Ken and the other Stooges. At times I felt I was framing about 300 rafters, all with different specs. It was a lot of fun and I know Ill have no problems as a result of really hashing it all out as we did.
Yesterday I went over to the site and no less than 15 people, including 6 framers, came by and asked if this was the house that Shemp was building. And so I put a big sign up in front ,” YES THIS IS THE HOUSE WITH THE HIP RAFTERS THAT SHEMP IS BUILDING, [WITH THE HELP OF CURLEY, MANNY AND MOE]!”
Thanks again guys,
Shemp

Mike,
I think I can speak for all of us in saying that we've enjoyed your project and we have certainly enjoyed your company. It's a pleasure to help ( at least that's what I think I did ) when you know that the receiver is so appreciative, and is someone as enjoyable as you have been..
Good luck Mike, and someday I warn you, I'll be stopping by to see the end product. Just make sure the walls are plumb, and the frig is stocked.

*Manny? What stooge is that?Surely you know the fellow stooges names, eh?
*Mad Dog,He must be refering to Larry's long lost Latino twin, Manuel...........yeah, that's it-Manuel Labor(Same Mom, different Dads!)John
*Was that the episode when Moe was dressed like a bandito and they got in a gunfight outside a taco bell?
*I think he's confusing the Stooges with the Pep Boys.Moe, Larry, Curly (Shemp, Joe)vs.Manny Moe and Jack
*Mike...Where's the address...I gots the beer...near the stream,aj
*Yeah-the one where they say: "Badges??? We don't need no stinkin' badges!"John
*JRS --That line is from John Huston's movie "Treasure of the Sierra Madre", with Humphrey Bogart, and Huston's father, Walter. Well worth a look. -- J.S.
*I thought it was from "Blazing Saddles".That was on last night, so I forced DW to watch it. I don't understand how she never saw it before. Every other scene, she would say "That's so rascist!" or "That's so stupid!". Most of the time she was whining about how she didn't find it funny at all. The rest of the time she was laughing her ass off. Also well worth a look...
*Boy I blew that one. Changed the sign today, Curley Larry and Moe. Thanks for thecorrection. I wonder how many people that got by?Mike
*ajAs soon as Ken says he is comming Ill let you guys know. no need to bring the beer, I have a tap.Mike
*No fair AJ, you're just around the corner, but still, I may make the trip, AFTER the work is done.Moe
*John,I know the movie well. You may not have noticed the tongue planted firmly in cheek.John
*OK, as an exercise in roof framing, have a look at this building:http://www.websher.net/inx/link.htmlThe walls are brick, but the domes are painted copper over wood frame. It was built between 1461 and 1484. It's my nominee for fanciest rafter job of all time. ;-)-- J.S.
*John, quit embellishing. I bid that job a few years back at 600 hours and lost it to a rookie named Joe that used a block and string and an adjustable bevel. Was that you Fusco?blue
