I just bought several prehung interior doors. After reading a bit and talking with the salesman, the installation process seems pretty straight foreward.
– Remove the old casing and jams
– Separate the halves of the new jam
– Set the new one in place and shim it in place plumb and square
– nail or screw through the jams
– Attach the second half of the jam and secure it.
Any suggestions to keep me from making some serious error and ruining the door?
Thanks, Ray

If there not special order , return them and get 1 piece jambs. MUCH BETTER

Yes, yes, yes. Those two piece jambs are a pain. Haven't seen them in years, and I hope I never do again.
I saw an article in FHB once about a guy who claimed to be able to hang pre-hung doors in less than 60 seconds. Anybody who wants to hang a door in 60 seconds should be shot. I came real close to cancelling my subscription on that one. Fine Homebuilding indeed.
Just take your time with the first one and the rest of 'em will go faster. Learn from your mistakes. A good carpenter can fix anything he screws up. A great carpenter can figure out a way to charge the customer for it.
Good luck. Ed.
