Price increases/ inflation since April?

Having to revisit an estimate for a job that was first done last Mar/April.
I am blown away at the percentage increase subs are claiming/asking for. I know metals have climbed, fuel, concrete. But I am seeing 20-40% increases from last spring and not just in those areas.
What numbers of a percent increase have other seen in since Mar./April?
They can’t get your Goat if you don’t tell them where it is hidden.

Roofing, vinyl flooring and metal are higher
Sheetrock, lumber are about the same as in years past.

cargin,Here in DSM roofing seems to increase every few weeks drywall materials were just raised. not sure how much yet, drywaller hasn't got back to me, so maybe it hasn't hit you yet.framing lumber down a little
finish lumber seems to be up

Lotta hype out there. Awhile back I had an excavator tell me that a $1 rise in diesel cost was his reason to bump his price $5/hr.
Pretty hard to burn that much. Apparently made sense to him.

Price increases never make sense to the buyers. I'd guess that most folks could wake up tomorrow and decide to charge $5 more and it would be justified and still too little.

Not trying to gauge, just trying to make sure I can still be in business next year and beyond...Too many folks not charging enough to sustain a viable business.JT
I don't know that all of the inflation is since April... I think a lot of companies have been absorbing some of the cost increases of the last few years and are making up for it lately. The $1 diesel/$5 hour guy has probably been running a little bit short for a while.

Then you also should remember that he adjusted his rates less than a year earlier, raised them substantially. Made him less than competetive. I was in a bind, paid. The diesel cost was BS.

What exactly do you know about his business costs? Are you an excavation contractor?
100% increase in the price of steel since January.And I just heard about an ongoing price fixing investigation into tomato (paste, sauce etc) & egg products.One limp, still warm squirrel in the mouth outside does NOT negate the fact that mouzies in the house are being caught by TRAP. cost of shingles has almost doubled,june 15th i paid43 a sq for 30 yr ,now the same shingle is74 a sq. come on who they kidding there cost in manf didn't go up that high????????????????? everybodys getting on the train,i'm thinking of sending notice to all my renters that theres a fuel surcharge of 25.00 a month,you know for serving eviction notices and etc.think they would buy it?

Shingles this spring (30 year Oakridge Owens-corning laminates) were $59 and cents, then they went up to $63 for a while, then dropped back down to $59.
now they are $73/ sq.

in june i purchased 30 tear gaf timberline for 13.98 a bundle.now beings as they came from hd ,no roof top del. which can mean a whole lot if i was carrying!
now hd is 25.00 a bundle.
i just got estimates on 3 roofs they are bidding 165 a sq to nail down,no tear off larryif a man speaks in the forest,and there's not a woman to hear him,is he still wrong?
