Today I went to the lumber yard and bought 11 boards and a screened door – $225. Kinda like when you go to the grocery and notice that your $s don’t buy many bags any more.
Has anyone seen any news articles, etc, detailing the rise in building material costs? I’d like some info to give prospective clients to help them understand why my bid is soooo high…
Sorry if I’m beating a dead horse – haven’t been around here much lately… Too busy workin…
Thanks

I wonder why OSB came down?
I figured it would be extremely high all summer...If you want to sacrifice the admiration of many men for the criticism of one, go ahead, get married. [Katharine Hepburn]
Oh, didn't you hear? The government finished all the construction projects in Iraq; less rain in the northwest so they loggers could get the logs out; LP,Weyerhauser etc made a pile of money and need a break in the cash flow to count it all. I pick the last one.

Thanks for the replys. I read the thread(s) about OSB in the past but am looking for 1 or more articles about building materials in general. There was one in JLC about 4 months ago, but I'm looking for some more up to date info.
ThanksMatt
Wait till there's a huricane.
Hurricanes only make for short lived price spikes - Mostly panic buying and speculation.

I'll say it. Actually, it's not evil, just typical. The administration has been playing hardball with Canada over various trade policies and NAFTA issues. By imposing tariffs on Canadian lumber, the administration enabled our local rich guys to sock it to us.
