This is a new self-adhesive drywall joint tape.
Anyone use this product yet?
Just wanted to know if it is any good. How well does the joint last?

Well, I watched the video. Seems like a gimick to me. If he wants to save time, why doesn't he spot more than 1 nail at a time?
They say thicker tape saves mud. Mud is about the cheapest stuff on a job.
Interesting they don't show an inside corner being done.
I dont see any advantages over established practices.

Trust in God, but row away from the rocks.
Mike,
Pretty much my opinion as well.
Maybe adhesives have improved to the point that the tape would stay adhered to the drywall forever.
I have gone to using the paper/plastic combo of drywall tape for inside and outside corners. But that is adhered with drywall compound. And I like to use 90 min EasySand for that.
I only do drywall when needed on a remodeling project. So, I wondered if someone had used this tape, what they thought of it. It would save a step. The question is, would it save money or time (which equals money).
So, if any one has had experience with it, please let us know.
Thanks, Bryan"Objects in mirror appear closer than they are."

Lowes carries a similar product. I applied it with GP compound after wetting it and it came off the wall. In another area I used it with setting compound, unfortunatly it let go of the painted surface it was applied to.
Next time, I'm just going to use paper tape.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA

If your hair looks funny, it's because God likes to scratch his nuts. You nut, you.
According to the info, the Pronto tape is self-stick. So, you would not use any compound to stick it to the wall.
Now, if you are talking about the other tape that I mentioned, then obviously something was not done correctly.
The brand I use is No-Coat Ultra Flex tape. I use the smaller size for I.S. corners, and the larger size for O.S. corners and off angles. I have never had any problems with it coming off the wall.
Perhaps your drywall compound was not wet enough.

Yes, the Pronto tape is self stick, as is the tape I used. The tape I used was the same width as regular paper or mesh tape, but the Pronto seems wider.
Both the Pronto and the tape I used have a common characteristic - the holes. This allows your compound to grip the surface through the tape, like a mesh tape, while keeping the qualities of a paper tape.
The same tape failed in two areas, but not all areas. I had worse problems with the wet and GP compound than I did with the setting compound. Still, for people who feed their kids with their work, I'd be very cautious with this kind of product.
I've very Gung-Ho for new products in the building industry, but I'm pulling some arrows out of my back in this case.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA

I was wondering about butt seams as well. I wasnt too impressed.
Another answer to a question no one asked.
It doesn't allow mud to get into the joint.
