I need to buy a new router and was considering the Bosch 2 hp #1613 EVS. For $35 dollars more I can pick up Bosch’s next generation model #1617EVSPK. It comes with a separate fixed base. What is the advantage, mnore accurate calibration in the fixed mode? that you can leave the fixed base on a table?
Thx, Jerry

Jerry,
Not familiar with the model in question....just wanted to highly recomend Bosch routers in general. If any of mine ever die, I`ll have to look into the model of which you speak!

Are you talking about the titanium Bosch that sells for roughly 220.?
That's the one: same concept as the PC 690/691 with a motor and three different bases (fixed D-handle, plunge), this kit comes with the fixed and plunge bases. I think the "K" means it comes with a case and "EVS" means 'electronic variable speed'. .

Hey Jerry,
I cannot recommend the kit highly enough. This is the only router I use now on site, accurate, comfortable, and powerful enough to cope with any thing I ask it to do.
I also bought a D handle base to go with the kit - the supplied fixed base lives under my site router table permanently and the D handle gives me more control when routing by hand.
You won't regret it.
