OK, here’s the situation:
Parents’ home. They’ll be moving into an “assisted living” place shortly and the home needs to be sold.
It has a deck, pretty standard treated wood style, never been stained or sealed. The house and deck are, I believe, about 8 years old.
What’s the best way to quickly/cheaply “pretty up” the deck — make it look less weathered, etc? Keeping in mind I don’t give a rat’s patoot whether the finish washes away in a year. (Obviously not going to use Sikken’s.)

I like a solid stain.
adds more color and pop than the basic deck stains ...
plus .... just a good sweeping with a hard push broom should get ya "stain ready".
All my exterior wood is stained as opposed to painted ...
the picket fence out front is white ... can't really tell it's not paint ....
the deck out back is blue .... semi-transparent. Definitely not a "coat of paint" look.
I like the stains ... as when it's recoat time ... way less prep work ... no loose "chips" to deal with ... stuff just soaks right into the wood.
Think it's been Behr the last coupla times.

Just doing a deck myself.
I find the best way to clean a deck is with a mixture of bleach and soap. Scrub with a deck brush. Does a better job than a powerwasher.
Anybody have a recipe for homemade deck stain or preservative?. Stain is getting pricey. I paid $50 after taxes (Cdn) for a gallon.
Ues a dech brightner/cleaner on it.
Just work it with a broom and hose off.
That might be enough by it'self.
If not then add a stain, either semi-transparent or solid body.
Wash with a mixture of TSP & bleach. Let dry. Sand areas where it obviously needs it. And I'm with Jeff, all my decks get solid stain when a pigment cover is called for. I use Cabots, but others out there are just as good.
