I just got a radon sample back. 11 picocuries is enough to ruin my weekend. When I built I stubbed out a tee from my interior perimeter drain so hooking up a fan shouldn’t be too hard. My question though is whether the vent must terminate at the roof or can it go out the sidewall.

A major advantage of roof termination is that the air will warm slightly within the house and want to rise without the assistance of a fan. It's a well documented method. I can't imagine a reason venting out the side wouldn't be ok as long as a fan is used.

Was the test run in the basement? Has the area been closed for some period of time? What method was used to determine the Radon level?
Generally at 11 pCl/L caulking, sealing and ventilating will lower the reading to less than 4. Usually no need for a mitigation system.
Radon is a heavy gas. Terminating the vent at roof level helps to disperse the gas over a larger area. "Dilution is the solution."
