A thunderstorm and hail put a bunch of dings in the north & east sides of our home’s 20 year old aluminum siding. The insurance co is going to pay to replace all, because the color / pattern is no longer available.
Is there a market for the used siding on my house, for someone’s shed, garage, cabin, whatever? There’s 2600 sq ft. 10+% is dented by hail, no big deal on a shed or basic cabin. another 10+% is scratched by shrubs, or dinged more seriously, or marred by paint drips, etc. There should be something better than tear off & recycling …
How difficult will it be to take it off without ruining it? That is probably the show-stopper.

That is probably the show-stopper.
You answered your own question, plus there's that old Steven Wright joke: I bought some used paint. It was shaped like a house.
Due to roof pitch and door and window locations, there's probably not as much easily usable material as you are imagining.
But, there's probably a fair amount of scrap value to it.

Sell it for scrap, quickly as the prices are going down. I bet you could have $600 or more on the average house. That would make you green as you are reusing>G<
Usually it's sold for scrap, but you might try removing a few pieces and putting them on Craig's List -- you can bet that someone is looking for some.
Removal without denting is tricky/tedious but not impossible.
PS: If you can swing it, don't replace it with aluminum. Use steel or vinyl (or fiber-cement).
If you do get any of it off undamaged, you might also see if there's a Freecycle in your area (freecycle.org, I think - Google "freecycle"). This is similar to Craigslist but for free stuff.
There isn't any market that I've ever heard of.
Offer it on cl...you won't get any offers.
Let face it...you would be the perfect candidate to buy someone elses stuff to match yours and you didn't go looking for any did you?
Around my area (Seattle) I wouldn't have any trouble getting rid of it on CL or equivalent. King county has a building materials exchange. There's always people looking for free materials for sheds and the like.
I replaced 3/4 of the LP siding on our two story home 10 yrs ago under the class action suit, and my brother in law took most of the halfway decent stuff, flipped it upside down to hide the rugged edge, painted it well and has had it on his garden shed ever since with no problems.
I say there's lots of takers out there, you just need to get one.
or.. like someone else said, sell it for scrap metal and get some $$ out of it.
It will go for free on CL. I thought he was trying to sell it.
In a word NO - Junk yd. salvage.
