Hi all,
Checking in on your master knowledge again. Sheetrockers finally came Now I got recessed lights blinking on and off. I think I already know the fix…but I’ll get your opionion. I got temporary 100 W regular bulbs in now will the down lights make less heat? Or do I need to pull all the cans and pull the excess sound insulation that we just had to have?
Thanks Blacky

If you used non-IC cans and insulated, you have a problem. You'll have to use a lower wattage than rated and even then its a bad idea. If there's a fire because of it, you're on the hook. If they're IC cans and blinking, just use the correct wattage and type bulb. If you installed those el-cheapo push-in cans, good luck. If you installed good ones, they cannot be removed without pulling down the drywall. You can't remove the insulation without taking out the can. I always use IC cans for everything. They cost almost the same and no accidents insulating where you didn't expect it.
bob, the halo and juno cans I use allow you to drop the "can", leaving the housing installed. You can re-position the insulation by dropping the can. Also allows access to the junction box.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

I use the big rectangular dudes. Lightolier. Just on the theory that heavier is better. Once they're drywalled, that's it. They're pretty tough and the drywall guys have a harder time chewing through them with the router.
Had no idea those big boys were still available and/or used. They definitely would want to stay put.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.
