Try contacting Jeff over at hoskinghardwood.com as he can probably get his hands on some of the material you are looking for. He recently mentioned something similar to what you are searching for in the hardwood forum.

Jay A,
Try "Vintage Lumber" in Fredrick, Maryland.
Can't help you with the radiators.

I have recently placed an order for "antique long-leaf pine" from Goodwin Heart Pine (1-800-336-3118). This is NOT heart pine, but is reclaimed antique pine from the outer part of river recovered logs (from about the turn of the century). I am paying about $4.00/sq. ft. for flooring with a knot-free vertical cut, but the price varies according to width, cut and grade. It is definitely cheaper than the $9.00 stuff (probably heart pine) you have been quoted.
*SLATE ROOF DETAIL FOR RIDGE VENTSI am renovating a house with a slate roof. My roofing contractor suggests using a ridge vent. Recently I saw an article on slate roofs showing how this could be done, but I don't know what magazine it was in. Has anyone seen an article in Fine Homebuilding or This Old House magazine, or know how this would be done?

Anybody got a source for 2-1/4" - 2-1/2" antique yellow pine flooring in what would be considered a prime grade (few, if any knots, tight vertical grain) ?
Looking for 500 sq. ft. for an upcoming renovation, and not having much luck (unless I want to pay $9.00 a SF.)
I've checked quite a few suppliers, but there seems to be a short supply of the better grade stuff.
Also need 2 or 3 old style cast iron radiators; width is not of much concern, but I do need two of them to be short enough to fit below window stools at about 20".
Appreciate any help.

Jay, I don't know what area you are in but longleaf pine is the best for flooring because it is hard. You can find it from Virginia to Texas in the coastal regions. A wrecking or demolition company in an area with a lot of old homes is a good start. I live in the New Orleans area and have found some for as little as $1.50 per square foot. It is best to take the old stuff and have it remilled, though, to make sure it is easy to install.
