Refinishing fiberglass tub/shower unit

Can anyone tell me if it’s possible to refinish a fiberglass tub/shower unit? I am remodeling a bathroom that has a early 70’s vintage fiberglass tub/shower unit. Cosmetically it’s tired, but functionally it’s fine. I’d like to refinish it if that’s possible and end up with a good looking unit. I’m doing a nice remodel to this bathroom, I don’t want a second rate refinish job on a tub/shower unit spoiling an otherwise nice remodel…

    Never heard of refinishing an acrylic or gelcote tub/shower.

    Call a good plumbing supplier and get the number of the guy they use to fix dings in fibreglass tubs. He'd be able to tell you I bet.
