I live in a modest ranch house with a brick front and aluminum siding. Unfortunately, the orginal builder never trimmed out the windows and used a style of brick I don’t really like. In short, it’s an ugly house. But, it’s on a great 5 acre lot in an area where land is very hard to come by. So, I’ve been trying to think of ways to improve the “curb appeal” of the house.
I’ve considered having the windows trimmed out and replace the aluminum siding with cement fiber. That would probably be the best trade off between cost and value. However, I would still be stuck with that ranch look that I’m just not crazy about.
I’ve also considered removing the brick from the front, and residing the entire house in fiber cement to go for more of a cottage look. I’m not really sure how feasible or expensive that might be though. Has anyone here done any similar projects that would have some advice? Thanks in advance…

Gary,
Some brick are easier to remove than others but I think you could soon adjust your demo method. I would probably start with a cheap air chisel, then try a "precision clearance alignment adjuster" better known as sledgehammer, carefully served, away from unprotected glass, etc. The problem is you probably won't know how it will go until you start, then it will be too late. One advantage is you won't be trying to save the brick.
