I’ve done several vinyl window replacement jobs and always had a tough time removing the existing storm windows that are installed on silicone without damaging the parting strip. Any suggestions for removing the storm windows and doing the least amount of damage? The new job happens to be my own home.

I cut the caulk around the window with a utility knife, then it usally comes out easy.
Fein Multimaster with the dull blade made for cutting calking works well on wood. I think it would be fairly safe on vinyl.
Fein Multimaster with the offset knife tool. It was made for this, no kidding.
