We are in the market to replace six windows in an old Victorian we are renovating here in Ottawa, Ontario (60 miles north of Upper New York State). We are looking for wood double hung with aluminum cladding.
If anyone has any good or bad experiences to share? Also, I have found that the wood used seems to vary. The Pella seem to use a Pine while the Willmar are made of Hickory? How significant is this?
Thanks
Paul

Paul,
I would recommend Marvin, new construction or tilt-pacs. This has been discussed a lot over the past year.
Pine has been the tried & true wood of choice over the years. I've never heard of hickory being used for window sash or frame.
