I’m in the process of replacing a door used to enter a small enclosure shielding stairs leading to a basement. It appears that someone used a pre-hung hollow-core interior door, cut it down to 57″, for the application. Since the door is exposed to the elements, over time the bottom of the door has rotted away.
If I replace the hollow-core with a solid door (which is obviously much heavier), could I get away with using two hinges as was done with the hollow-core? The dimensions of the door are 30″ W x 57″ H.
Anyone else have any other ideas?
Thanks, Ron

Yes.
It's not the number of hinges so much as the way they're anchored. They need to have long screws going through the door frame and into the framing beyond, especially at the top.
Thanks for the info; I appreciate the help.
