Hello all
I’m residing with Hardie and Miratec… already received a great deal of helpful advice concerning tools and techniques. Next question is this…My current windows are vinyl replacement and they’re trimmed out in aluminum (house is currently aluminum siding). The windows are recessed quite a bit and the aluminum trim is “busy”, but with an effective J channel on all sides. The “casing” is caulked heavily and caulk is not “white” anymore.
I can’t decide whether to leave the aluminum “casing” and slide 5/4″ miratec under the J groove OR strip all of the aluminum off and re-flash and try to re-paper, buy new j-moldings and whatever else needs done. I’m worried about the difficulty in flashing the replacements correctly if I get rid of the current alumn. trim.
I plan to test run some looks tomorrow. Any thoughts?
Thanks Joel
